No New Posts GLENROCK CAFÉ - 1 Viewing

Not a Café at all! Using the excuse ‘I’m just going to meet my friends at the café’ is not valid anymore – not after the parents found out the Glenrock Café was actually the name of the local nightclub! Just think of it, all these frustrated young adults with nothing to do but drink and grind the pain away. Serves as a pub during the lighter hours but after 8pm the floor opens up to a completely different crowd.

No New Posts CHURCH AND CEMETERY

A simple town-style Church always kept in an immaculate condition by its pastor and its caretakers. Glenpark in its early day was a highly Christian religious little town but these days you get people from all faiths living here and even they can appreciate the quaint little beauty that is our church. The gravestones themselves date back more than 100 years in some places and were once in the paper for a series of graverobbings in the neighbourhood.

No New Posts SCHOOL BUILDING - 1 Viewing

This is the only school for at least another two hours and caters to the older pupils. The younger generation are taught in the community centre due to the lack of space and the school itself is nothing more than a converted wool mill but that means for a lot of hiding holes and storage cupboards. It is required by law to attend highschool until you are 16 years old with the exception of those who have a legal guardian to sign a working form.

No New Posts THE PARK

The park – simple as can be. To the north of the park you have a stretch of grass perfect for playing sports and squeazed into one of the corners is a climbing frame, a set of swings and even a public toilet that very few dare to use unless they have a very strong stomach. In the summertime the park is alive with bright yellow daffodils and summer fairs like the Dog Shows or Flower Fair. A favourite for those young ‘uns looking to fill in their Saturday nights.

No New Posts RETAIL PARK

A block of ‘for lease’ retail shops that sell anything you desire. All are local run and you can buy anything from your grocery shopping to horse tack within these walls. Occasionally properties come up for sale or lease and you may find yourself tempted to jump on the wagon so if that’s the case just pop into the local estate agent and they will set you up with a plan and other legal… things. Want to impress your customers? Use big words.

No New Posts ESTATE AGENTS

There is one estate agent for the whole of the town. This site is a mix between IC and OOC requiring that you post IC in the boards to express interest in a property and you will get a short NPC reply granting you permission, asking questions etc. This is because in these posts we can check up on whether you are able to provide quality writing for a retail environment (And us staffers have nothing better to do than stalk your posts.).

No New Posts ANGEL CAKES TEA AND CONFECTIONARY

Constantly changing hands due to the extreme demands for gluttonous, sugary, cream-filled pastry and tea this is the best (And only) tea shop for the public. 1950’s style with a salad-bar cake display and the strong scent of burnt coffee, many of the older residents pop into here for their morning wake-up call and leave like a cat on catnip. There is a menu and a light selection of lunches and breakfasts on offer as well.

No New Posts COMMUNITY CENTRE

Indoor events, schooling and bake sales take place within this merry little hall. During the weekdays the smaller children (Between 5-8) come here to learn and play, on Saturday the Nursery is open from 8am to 12pm and finally on Sunday the events booked take place. The community centre itself used to be a church until the mid 1930’s before it was refurbished and changed to what it is – doesn’t help that musty church smell.

Not all people have the luxury of an on-call vet and this vet serves a great purpose amongst the people. This little surgery is family run and are called upon in emergencies for the shelters of just routine checks for the public when they need it. No problem is too small that they won’t look at. Last year the surgery had a major re-vamp bringing it up to date with all the cool new gadgets and gizmos making it a good emergency contact in your animals time of need.

Grey cement flooring with fully enclosed dog/cat pens. There are thirty fully functional kennels indoor usually used for the weak and elderly residents and forty stacked steel cages for cats all stocked with warm blankets, toilet areas and heat pads for those who need it. All kennels and cages are cleaned out in the morning after mealtimes then swept down in the evening before closing time to keep things clean and hygienic much to the comfort of the residents.

No New Posts OUTDOOR KENNELS - 1 Viewing

Large mesh fronted kennels with a smaller interior kennelling for those cold nights. Each kennel can contain up to three dogs comfortably with specially designed cat kennels out of sight from our canine friends with a similar set up but with and extra pedestal which up to three cats can perch on quite comfortably. Once a year the kennels are checked for any damages and a repair man is always on handy to do things with a welcomed discount.

No New Posts SURGICAL PRACTICE ROOM

What examinations can’t be done within the kennels are done in here with the resident vet who visits 5 days a week. This room is equipped with just about everything for emergency care (Although its styles may vary and some equipment may be outdated.). As all animals are neutered before they are adopted this room is usually very busy and welcomed the odd student of volunteer wanting to watch an operation in progress. This room does not provide public spaying/neutering.

No New Posts EXERCISE PARK - 1 Viewing

Not exactly a park, but a field. Surrounded by 8ft high mesh fencing and surrounded by trees, dogs are allowed off leash to socialize and play without the worry of bumping into strange people or getting into trouble with the local farmer. There’s about 2 acres of unspoilt greenery and gates along the borders if you fancy walking off course for a change of pace – just don’t go too far as you may get lost or shot at for being a nuisance to the animals – off leash or not!

No New Posts ADOPTION ASSESSMENT

When an animal is deemed ready to be adopted a trainer/volunteer will take the animal in here to be assessed. They will be given new situations, objects, people and smells to investigate and base their adoption ability on that. They will also be introduced to other dogs (Both dominant and submissive) to check their suitability to live with other animals. After the assessment they can be put up for adoption. The ones who did not pass will be reassessed at a later date.

No New Posts QUARANTINE - 1 Viewing

If an animal is sick or unchecked, they will be put in a quarantine kennel until they are treated or checked. Heartworm, fleas and other parasites are considered dangerous and will be put in here. In more serious cases such as rabies the animal will be put to sleep before arriving at the clinic regardless and his/her body disposed of off the premises to prevent spread of the disease. No animal may be considered for adoption if they have been treated for illness. Fosters Considered.

No New Posts THE BARN - 1 Viewing

True American-style indoor stalls… a little outdated in the design department but they do the trick just fine. Squeezing into this Mary-Poppins style barn is room for 20 horses with little room left over for a ‘staff room’ and a hayloft overhead. The stalls are lightwood with a red highlighting finish, concrete floor with individual feeding troughs and hay nets. Stalls are cleaned out in the morning first thing and checked weekly for any sign of ware.

No New Posts KENNELS

Not the most glamorous of kennelling but as with the stalls, it does the job – the many patches of patchwork mesh tells its own tale. Each kennel has a run area big enough for one dog with a wooden kennel insulated with animal-friendly insulation and blankets for the colder months. As Justice Ranch is known for taking in dogs that have lived outdoors every animal has its needs met and more.

No New Posts RIDING ARENA - 1 Viewing

Due to lack of funding there has only ever been one school in the whole ranch which is used for training, rehabilitating and riding the horses brought here. To keep funds steady the Justice Ranch uses some of the better horses for private lessons or you may bring your own horse/pony and book a private lesson with one of the qualified trainers. Sand-floored with jumps available it is both equipped and a healthy size for any school.

No New Posts RECEPTION

Nobody comes in or out of the stable without the notice of the staff at the front desk. This little cabin was recently added as the ranch house was becoming far too busy with the hustle and bustle and sits as an attachment onto the house. This reception also doubles as a shop selling the very basics to the equestrian visitors but due to lack of space it is greatly under-stocked. If you would like to get in touch with the management team, this would be a great place to start.

No New Posts PASTURES

Unlike rolling fields you may picture in your mind when you think of pastures, the pastures here are mostly just divided sectors of land cut and shaped to suit the needs of its inhabitants. Due to the lame, unaltered or ill horses that come to our gates it is very difficult to have them all out to pasture together but at the same time they need to get exercised – and this is the solution. Horses that can be put into herds are at the back of the land while those in solitude are at the front.

No New Posts COURTYARD

Once past the reception you will come to a small stretch of cement and the occasional poop scooper. Courtyard may be a bit of a stretch itself but it is the only stretch on the ranch that connects the stables door-to-door and is most commonly used for grooming and tethering. Sometimes due to lack of space, ponies are placed in here overnight until better space is found. The five resident stable-blocks overlook this area making it a favourite for staff and visitors alike to have their lunch.

No New Posts HACKING

Thankfully the saving grace of being so far out in the country is the wonderful trails you can follow. It’s very scenic and therapeutic to those just coming back into training. If you head in the north-east direction long enough you will come across SCARS and you might even stop in for a chat and a view of the animals. To the south lies a shallow river which is a great spot to let your horse take the reign. NOTE: In winter, the hacking is closed off due to extreme weather.

THE OLD DAIRY [FOR LEASE/SALE]

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts FARMHOUSE

Completely derelict but not to the point of collapsing. If you look close enough you can see the ghost of its splendour and can picture the owners before sitting in the old armchairs which remain even today, old and moth ridden. There is two floors and four bedrooms along with a generous sized loft which has since been home to a homeless man, a group of rowdy drug addicts and a lovely convict who has since returned to jail to serve the rest of his lifetime sentence.

No New Posts THE BARN

Used in the good old days to house the dairy cows and hay during the winter now resembling something out of a horror movie with its patchwork roof, rickety beams and remnants of past days. It still retains the smell of straw and animals as it used to but it hasn’t housed livestock in just over 18 years. If you follow the door to the right as you come in, you will arrive in the calving barn which is home to the last of the milking machines.

No New Posts MILKING BARN - 1 Viewing

With headgear, large rusting metallic hinges and contraptions left to rot this place bears striking similarity to the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ film. It was not in use when the new improved metal bars were introduced and has a sturdy wooden interior. The windows have been boarded up but thanks to the local teenagers you needn’t worry about the glass as the agent will assure you that the windows were smashed and sharp back in the days!

No New Posts DUSTY PASTURES

No use for grazing any animal but loved by the locals to let the dogs off for a run – some even returning with a questionable bone or two! Despite its rugged terrain it hosts a certain charm enhanced by the large metallic silos watching over the place in their sleep. It was suggested that this place be turned into apartments but nobody had the heart to tear down this national treasure.

No New Posts OLD STABLES

Possibly used for the working horses long before the dairy business went bust. Despite its age, it was built to last and keep its valuable assets comfortable so the shell at least in intact as well as the concrete interior. Saddles, blankets and other items have long perished with the age. Used for storing bales during the winter it’s musky horse smell is tainted with cow slurry but other than that a lick of pain and a good clean will do it wonders.
